Nicholas Zoroya's Master's in Education Transcript

Summer 2014

CEP 820-Teaching Students Online

     Instructor: Sandra Sawaya

This course is intended to prepare students to teach online. Students are exposed to various learning managment systems (LMS), and are taught how to create an online course. Throughout the course I experimented with various LMS' and created a course from scratch. Thanks to this course I feel comfortable creating online courses.

KIN 856-Physical Bases of Coaching

     Instructor: Scott Reiwald

This course was very much a review of information from my undergradutate studies in Kinesiology. Throughout the course we studied the biomechanics, sports medicine, physiology, and anatomy. It felt great to expand on my preexisting knowledge of the body and to further that knowledge by linking this knowledge to my coachign principles.

Fall 2014

KIN 855-Psychosocial Bases of Coaching

     Instructor: Andy Driska

This was perhaps my second favorite course in the master's program. The course taught me how to examine sports from a psychological perspective, as well as a social perspective. It taught me how to examine my coaching philosophy and use scientific principles to advance my philosophy. I gained a greater perspective of how to reach my athletes.

KIN 857-Promoting Positive Youth Development in Sport

     Instructor: Dan Gould

In this course I was able to take a look at the reasoning behind how we develop our athletes in sport. Specifically I looked at how to develop Lacrosse players from childhood on. By examining the development of young athletes and pairing that with appropriate expectations on the field, I was able to gain a better understanding of we should teach lacrosse to children as they develop.

Spring 2015

KIN 854-Legal and Administrative Issuses in Sport

     Instructor: R. Atkinson

As an athletic director this course has helped me more than any other in my life. It taught me the hidden responsibilities of an athletic department, along with the possible issues that can arrise. The mock cases we wrote about allowed us to deal with real life situations, and receive feedback from a legal expert. This course has helped me develop my ability to handle the legal aspects of sport.

ED 800-Concepts of Educational Inquiry

     Instructor: Steven Weiland

This course caused me to look deeply at current and past problems in education, and how we could possibly remedy those issues. We looked at various forms of inquiry, and consistently applied those concepts to our personal lives. The course was the most indepth and expansive course of my graduate coursework, it allowed me to expand how I look at modern education.

Summer 2015

ED 870- Capstone Seminar

     Instructor: Matthew Koehler

The capstone seminar serves as a reflection of my entire graduate coursework while also allowing me to recognize where my newly aquired knowledge could take me. We reflect on previous experiences, on future expectations, and the many lessons learned throughout our graduate experience. This course also developes an online portfolio to showcase this knowledge.

TE 822-Issues of Culture in Classroom and Curriculum

     Instructor: Niral Shah

The final course of my graduate program focused on the various perspectives we should consider when teaching and evaluating students. Most notably, we examined culture and the role it plays in differentiating our instruction. This course has improved my ability to recognize cultural differences and needs in the curriculum.
